Challenging the recovery of benefit overpayments and hardship payments DATE: 17 July 2024, 10:30-12:00 This session will explain the DWP’s current policy on waiving recovery of benefit overpayments, the impact that overpayment recovery has on claimant benefit awards and the steps that individuals can take to challenge this recovery. This will include a discussion on preparing effective waiver requests and the availability of judicial review as a remedy if a waiver request is refused. We’ll also look at PLP’s research on the impact and use of deductions by the DWP.
