All too often, the state acts unlawfully which can lead to devastating consequences for the lives of ordinary people. Without help, these people often lack the means to challenge government decisions and hold the state to account. Unlawful decisions that go unchallenged can be repeated, leading to more people suffering, and a government unconstrained by checks and balances.  

That’s where you come in. Friends of Public Law brings together a group of supporters behind PLP’s mission to hold the state to account. By donating to Friends of Public Law, you will become PLP’s partner – making a meaningful investment into PLP’s future, while gaining access to exclusive professional and social opportunities for Friends of Public Law. With your help, we will continue to challenge unlawful decisions and drive change to ensure future policy and legislation is fair, rational, and just.  

Your Impact

By donating to Friends of Public Law, you are helping to build a fairer society governed by a just and accountable state. Your support will directly help people affected by unfair decisions through litigation and prevent injustices in the future by pushing for reforms in policy and legislation. With your help, PLP will take on strategic public law cases with the widest possible impact. Bringing a challenge to judicial review is an empowering experience for our clients and can improve the lives thousands of other people in similar circumstances.   

You are also helping to fund in-depth research. By sharing insights from people experiencing injustice and exposing flaws in public policy we will provide politicians and policy makers with the evidence they need to make the right decisions, the first time. This work is vital for a fair and just society, but is only possible with sustained, long-term investment. As a Friend of Public Law, you will help provide this support.

How your donation will help

Friends of Public Law commit to making a regular donation of £50 to £250 a month, or £600 to £3,000 a year. Examples of what your support could help achieve include:  

• £600 could fund interviews and case study write ups with people with lived experience of injustice, placing their voices and experience at the heart of policy reform discussions

• £1,500 could pay for public law training for grassroots organisations, empowering people from marginalised communities to access justice and use the law as a tool for change

• £3,000 could finance strategy development and coalition building to counter the rise of authoritarianism, ensuring a strong and coordinated response to threats to the rule of law 

At a time when fundraising is increasingly challenging, your donation will be a meaningful, long-term investment in our ambitious mission to advance a fairer society through public law.
