We are very proud (if a little sad) to let you know that our wonderful Legal Director Alison Pickup will be leaving us in October to take up the role of Director at Asylum Aid.

Since joining PLP five years ago Alison has been at the heart of PLP’s strategic development, providing leadership right across the organisation, including as mentor to several Justice First Fellows.

Alison joins our friends at Asylum Aid at a crucial time for migrant justice, and we look forward to supporting and celebrating her work in that space.

And more change is coming: our equally wonderful Research Director Joe Tomlinson will be stepping down from that role at the end of the year. Since Joe joined PLP four years ago the research team has grown from one researcher (him!) to a nationally recognised team of 10, drawn from a range of academic disciplines and all experts in their fields. And somehow he has done all that alongside his ‘day job’ at York University. We are delighted that from 2022 Joe will continue to work with PLP in a senior consultancy capacity.

Alison and Joe have been huge forces for good, for PLP, for public law and for the communities they serve. PLP is stronger and better for their work. In the day to day we will miss them enormously.

However, all this means that there is an extremely exciting vacancy at PLP. The synergy between our research and casework teams is critical to PLP’s continued impact and success: we are thoughtful and evidence-led in all our activities but particularly in our litigation. Our next Legal Director will lead, inspire, and align these two high-performing teams.

Want to help protect the fundamentals of our constitution? To promote meaningful access to justice? To work in a friendly, supportive and inclusive team to tackle the biggest issues of the day?  Then why not join us?

Recruitment for this position is now closed.
