PLP writes to the new Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Work and Pensions

Following recent letters to the previous position holders PLP’s Legal Director, Alison Pickup, has written to both the new Lord Chancellor and the new Secretary of State for Work and Pensions (SSWP).

Ms Pickup has written to The Rt Hon David Lidington MP Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice to raise concerns regarding the proposed LASPO review.  You can read the letter here.

Ms Pickup has also written to the Rt Hon David Gauke MP Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, to continue to raise our concerns regarding mandatory reconsideration of benefit decisions and KPI’s, as it was recently revealed, following a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, that an Indicator given to DWP staff regarding their performance included a high percentage of reconsiderations that had been refused.  You can read the letter in full here, and the previous letter can be found in our resources  here.
